BEEFY HASHBROWN BAKE

2 cups frozen shredded hash browns

2 tablespoons oil

1/8-teaspoon pepper

1 pound lean ground beef

1-cup water

1 envelope brown gravy mix

1/2-teaspoon garlic powder

2 cups frozen or canned vegetables (your choice)

1 3 ounce can French fried onions

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

 

In a bowl combine the potatoes, oil and pepper.  Press into an 8-inch square pan.  Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 15 minutes until potatoes are thawed and set.  Meanwhile brown the beef.  Drain well and stir in water, gravy mix, garlic powder and vegetables.  Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes.  Stir in half of the onions and cheese.  Pour this over the potatoes.  Bake for 10 minutes and sprinkle with the remaining onions and cheese.  Bake for 5 minutes longer until the cheese melts.  Serves 4
