MEATLOAF CORDON BLEU    

2 cups dry breadcrumbs

1-cup milk

2 pounds lean ground beef

¾ teaspoon onion powder

¾ teaspoon garlic salt

2 teaspoons soy sauce

9-12 slices of ham

9-12 slices of Swiss, mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese

Sauce:

½ cup ketchup

2 teaspoons mustard

5 tablespoons brown sugar

 

Combine breadcrumbs and milk.  Let stand for 5 minutes.  Meanwhile combine the sauce ingredients well and set aside.

Add the meat, onion powder, garlic salt and soy sauce to the breadcrumb mixture.  Mix thoroughly.  On wax paper shape into a 10x8 inch rectangle.  Place ham slices on the rectangle and then the cheese slices on top being sure to leave a ½ inch margin on all sides.  Roll up the rectangle into a log shape starting with the long end.  Seal the edges and ends.  Place in a loaf pan.  Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.  Spoon sauce on top and bake for 15 minutes longer.
